My final barter item arrived in the post this week. An amazing yoga bag from Mary Frances at This is Marzipan. It is made of a luscious chocolate linen and hand-embroidered with a whimsical dandelion puff making it's way out into the wind. It's relaxing just to see it in the house. I'm crazy about it all. MF also included a sweet extra (pictured above)--a lavender satchel for savasansa. Frankly, the whole barter experience is one big savasansa. Mary discusses it well on her blog but the best part by far of exchanging our goods is getting to know each other better and having--in hand--things made by people you admire and are inspired by. I'm the type of person to get really overwhelmed by all the bad news out there. I listen to public radio obsessively and frequently I find myself tense and upset, feeling hopeless and burnt out. This little barter (and crafting in general) is a bit of a break from that. A little reminder "people are nice and they do loving things for each other every day." It can bring me back off the ledge. So, thanks lovely ladies. Let's do it again...soon.
