The Birthing Quilt

A very dear friend of mine is about to have a baby, any minute now, really. Her husband, who is terribly sweet, asked friends and family members to write letters that he could read to her in case labor...well, labored too long. That way she could feel surrounded by the people she loves. Nice, right?

I opted for a small sized 'birthing quilt' and wrote my letter on fabric that could run through the printer. Then, I cut it up and quilted it. I got to use my new free motion quilting foot. I love, love, love the way that free motion quilting looks but it's going to take some getting used to. I'm really looking forward to using it a lot....even considering diving into a queen size quilt. But, it takes a bit of getting used to, it moves so fast and I had a hard time keeping my stitches even and orderly. But, it's a good challenge to improve and work toward something as amazing as this.
